Ambassador Hugo Beteta Meets with Senior U.S. Officials at the White House to Strengthen the Bilateral Agenda

Ambassador Hugo Beteta held a productive meeting at the White House with senior U.S. Government officials, including Patrick Nelson, Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs at the National Security Council, William Turner, National Security Affairs Special Advisor to Vice President J.D Vance, and State Department Senior Advisor John Cheng to advance the Guatemala-USA shared agenda. The discussion focused on strengthening cooperation in key areas, including security, migration management and economic development. Guatemala highlighted recent progress, including joint border security efforts, enhanced migration coordination, increased drug interdictions, and expanded collaboration with SOUTHCOM.


The Ambassador also underscored Guatemala’s commitment to democratic governance, cybersecurity, and regional stability, as well as our strong and historic partnership with the United States, reaffirming Guatemala's readiness to deepen cooperation and continue delivering concrete results that benefit both nations.
