We are proud to share that over 3,000 people visited us at the Embassy of Guatemala for PassportDC 2026's edition. Washington, D.C. offers a rare and remarkable stage — one where diplomacy and culture converge — and we were honored to use it to bring the richness of Guatemala's heritage to the American public.

Our doors opened not just to a space, but to the soul of Guatemala. Guests were welcomed by "Messengers to the Sky", a captivating exhibit by renowned artist Ricky Lopez, alongside five magnificent giant Barriletes — the iconic hand-crafted kites that carry centuries of tradition from the communities of Santiago and Sumpango, Sacatepéquez.

Adding to the experience, the Friends of the Ixchel Museum (@ixchelfriends_textiles) brought a remarkable collection of traditional garments from Sacatepéquez, offering visitors an intimate glimpse into the textile artistry and cultural identity that have defined this region for generations. We also had the valued participation of Handmade by Friendship Bridge, whose presence further highlighted the extraordinary craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit of Guatemalan women artisans.

We were equally delighted to share this occasion to experience Guatemalan flavors thanks to:

The event also featured Sergio Izquierdo (@sergioizquierdophoto) — a talented Guatemalan photographer and filmmaker whose award-winning conservation work has been recognized by National Geographic and the BBC. His images served as a powerful reminder of Guatemala's breathtaking natural and cultural heritage.

We expect you next year....
